On Sundays : Young People

What The Youth Groups Are About

Fun, a bit of adventure, fellowship, Jesus, and food, of course.

The Youth Groups are for those who are in school years 7 to 11. Our mission is to help young people to explore the Christian faith and to have a relationship with God. We meet in the AJ Hall, at the back of St John's church, where we have our own comfortable and relaxing space.

Pathfinders

For all those in secondary school. Meets during the 10:45am Sunday service.

Vision

Meets on Sunday evenings in the AJ Hall (behind the church) from 6:30-8:30pm.  Vision is for all those in years 9-13 in school.  We don't meet on the third Sunday of the month.

Things We Do

Movie nights, supper club, parties, bonfire night, Norht Birmingham Youth events, prayer nights, games days, weekends away, bible studies, small group discussion, creative projects, craft, Soul Survivor, make flame throwers etc.

We like to organise social events & fundraising activities together which strengthen friendships. We also enjoy participating in the service & social events, along with the wider church family.

In The Week

We also have regular activities during the week. Supper Club meets on Thursdays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the AJ Hall. This is open to all those in secondary school. We either have a night of games & food, or a course which we are working through. Discipleship Groups are for those in years 8-13 in school, meeting with a gruop of 3-4 young people & leaders to dig deeper into our faith.

The Youth Minister

Samantha Sieber or ‘Sam’ is the Youth Minister at St. John’s. She is American and arrived at St. John’s in November of 2012. After living in Belgium working in youth ministry and in Romania volunteering for a Christian charity, God has brought her here. She is really excited to be a part of life at St. John’s and in England. If you don’t see her in church or at a youth group meeting you may see her helping out with the Girl Guides or Boys' Brigade. She also enjoys coffee with students during the week in Sutton. She mainly rides the bus, loves the colour green, mint chocolate anything and dogs --- so if you see a random American Ginger about feel free to say hello!

The Amazing Volunteers

The youth groups are so blessed to have some amazing volunteers (Mel, Andy, Chris, Alicia, Sal, Kevin, Karmi, Nicola, & Steve to name some.) Whilst Sam is the youth minister, volunteers are essential to the group. If you would be interested in knowing how to help please get in contact!
